Driving Me Nuts!!!
Normally I'm amused by the crazy antics of these seemingly harmless rodents. But this year they've all gone mad!! They have no fear and absolutely no respect for the HUMAN!! A couple of weeks ago I stepped out of the car in to the driveway. I saw two youngsters chasing each other. They were running so blindly towards me they ran right between my legs!! I could feel their FUR!! That's way more nature than I need in my life!
One almost made it into the house. We were bringing groceries in, and the front door was open. He sat there for a good 5 seconds checking things out, as I silently prayed he didn't invite himself in. The image of five kids a cat and a squirrel all in the same small area was petrifying! Luckily he must have been a neat freak and our house didn't pass.
And now this one and his eighty three siblings are busting in through the sunroom! The screens are torn apart and need replacing. They actually get in and eat all the bird food. Probably play with Andrew's trains too. And are completely fearless. They mock our elderly cat. Walk right by him on the deck knowing he is just too old to care anymore.
Look at this one staring me down!
If they don't knock it off we are going to be left with no choice but to send in the Big Guns!!! Miss Em! This lean, mean, fighting machine will have no mercy on those fancy tailed rats!! She's ready to go! And is taking no prisoners!
Warning you pain in the neck squirrels, don't mess with this baby! I've seen what she can do to animals with fur! Just ask the cat!
Crazy! This would freak me out! Hope they go away soon! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeletethat is so bizarre that there are THAT many squirrels and that they feel so at HOME in your house/sunroom! I hope you don't have to send in miss em... your poor cat, I can only imagine if your cat is old that miss em can get to him/her easily - whitney would LOVE to get to ours!!! have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteA see a new SPRIGHTLY cat in your near future. We had trouble with rats one year in FL when a neighboring orange grove was left uncared for. Yuck. Best part is we have a RAT Terrier. Had a talk with him about earning his keep and sure enough he started leaving dead ones all over the backyard. Since I don't do rodent removal, I would just put a bucket over them until Mike returned from a trip with strick orders for the girls to stay away. Sometimes Mike would come home to 2 0r 3 upside down buckets in the backyard. Such a brave man I am married to! Hmmm..I wonder if sguirrels would eat rat poison?
ReplyDeleteha! ha! We have some daring squirrles and chipmunks as well. The kids think they are adorable and try to chase them. I think they are cute from a distance - but I want them nowhere near my kids, and certainly not in my house! - aack!
ReplyDeleteI am just afraid I am going to run over one of them one day, and then I would have to explain it to my teary eyed kids. In the words of George Constanza... "We had a deal!!!"
lol, so funny. that is crazy they arent scared. We had a baby get in this past spring but the kids left the front door opened...he must have been a clean freak too b/c he ran out the back door quite fast ;) Good luck with getting rid of them. Are there exterminators that will catch them there?
ReplyDeleteI always feel a little, uh, uncomfortable (read: scared!) of forward squirrels with attitude. Good luck, Em! ;)
ReplyDeleteOur squirrels aren't quite that comfortable around our house. I did go to a beach retreat one year and there were squirrels that would eat right out of your hands and sit by your feet. Crazy~
ReplyDeleteGo get them, Em!!
LOL!!!! The past few years have been awful with squirrels around our house too!! Sometimes, I feel like someone is standing nearby with a camera, like it's a BAD joke!! Ha!! I CANNOT stand squirrels!! I say, "SEND IN THE BIG GUNS"!!!
ReplyDeleteI am of the theory, if you do not help pay my mortgage, then you cannot live on my property!!! lol
Maybe your squirrels are different from our squirrels. All kidding aside, I'd hate for Miss Em to have to take rabies shots. Do you have an "agricultural extension agent" in your county or state who can supply you with traps to thin out the population?
ReplyDeleteThat is nuts and would totally freak me out too! Miss Em might have to get to work sooner than later!
ReplyDeleteOmg, they are brave!! I can't believe they ran between your feet! We have a couple that keep raiding the bird feeder on our deck and eating all the seeds. I'll go out to chase them away, but it takes some pretty aggressive motions by me to get them to care. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh dear sorry I am laughing at this post (not the squirrels in your sunroom though =)
ReplyDeletePerfect timing...Aidan was just watching 4 pesky little ones play tag in our front yard this morning and laughing hysterically.
Maybe you should show them pics of the zhuzhu pet incident, surely that would scare them off. Em means business!
Hope they go bother someone else soon!
Just yesterday I was driving down the street and saw a small bobcat with a squirrel in it's mouth...maybe I can locate it and send it your way :)
