Party Ideas Anyone?

Last years party.

OK, here's my dilemma. It's Andrews sixth birthday on the 22nd of this month. He hasn't had a "real" party yet. Last year we invited our close friends over so the house filled up with kids , but I have yet to have one with kids from school. The problem? One, a very small house. Two, not a lot of experience with little boys parties. And three... no funds to spare on anyone for hire. So what do I do?
I know I can only invite a few children from school. I mean between my own bunch and some from school we'll be bursting at the seems. And, another issue is that this will have to be an indoor party. I'm sure it will be too cold for any outdoor activities.
It's not the end of the world, but I'd like Andrew to have a nice party and for his guests to have fun.So, if anyone out there has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
There will be boys and girls invited. Any ideas on a craft or activity? I'll appreciate anything!!

Oh man three sons here! We had a dog party, hot dogs, pin the tail on the dog, find the bone.
Then we had a pig party, everyone wore pig noses, pigs in a blanket, jello eating contest (no hands), Around the world party - had the invitation look like a passport, kids dressed up from different countries, candy from different countries, more relay races. Carnival at home with homemade games, sponge toss (fun to get mom wet) go fish (fish for cookies/candy)
Have fun!

Pirate partys are really in right now. Write the invitations on parchment paper with a map background. burn the edges a bit roll them up tie with string and hand them out. Games pin the eye patch on the pirate, give them each long balloons and let them have a sword fight, have an indoor scavenger hunt, etc. Cover the table with pain brown paper with a map drawn on it and let them make their own pizza or make their own ice cream sundae. Oh, I could have so much fun doing parties for a living. Email me and we can talk more if none of the ideas you get turn out to be something you like. We can think of something cool, surely!!

And 'inexpensive' is my middle name. In fact I think I am going to silk screen a shirt that says "If I die at Walmart, please drag my body to Neiman Marcus!" LOL!

I am so not creative. I'm sorry I don't have any ideas. Michelle is helping me with Jaxsons birthday party.

Looks like Kele has some great ideas. I think the pizza making or decorating cookies would be fun. I love the pirate idea, too. We did a treasure hunt for that age group and bought cheap hats at Oriental Trading Co (online) for the treasure hunt. You hide things in your yard or indoors and provide clues. Have fun.

Try going to Family Fun online (the magazine). They usually have pretty neat ideas there. I have all girls and I'm sure boys wouldn't like a spa day!

I have absolutely zero ideas. That is not a talent of mine... but I sure hope he has a fabulous party! You'll do great too, I'm sure!

Okay, you may say no go and you may not have anything like this near you but ..... we had an indoor reptile party. It was the best party ever.Parents loved it too.It was totally interactive.I of course stepped out when the boa constrictor came out but seriously ... if you have anything like this .. it was a hit!Let me know if you want what else we did to go along with theme if you find it is a go.

Ok...I have no ideas for birthday parties...I am the worse at that. I will go broke paying for something to entertain mine because I am that bad at it!! BUT...you have been on my mind a lot today in regards to Reece's Rainbow. I found a couple cuties that I would love to have and have been obsessing over if this would ever be an option for us. But for some reason today, you popped into my mind as the perfect family to adopt a child. I can just tell you are amazing parents and already know how to handle a large family....just my thoughts :)

Well all the parties I have had for Vir and that includes his 1st, so that makes it 7 this year have been parties at home, indoors too as his birthday falls during the rainy season and so we can't plan anything outdoors.
Games include, musical chairs (if you have enough space) dancing on the news paper, when each time the music stops you fold the paper once and eventually its the person still standing on the tiny piece of papers, without touching the floor that wins. Passing the parcel is always a hit, then there's pin the tail on the donkey, a memory game, show them a bunch of things and the one who can remember the most wins, they can either write them down or whisper into the judges ear (incase their writing skills still aren't too great) magnetic dart board whoever is closest to the bulls eye wins. Well thats just a few ideas, all inexpensive and fun for kids, oh yes there's musical statues as well thats great fun. Ok I've rambled on enough, by the time they've played these games and cut the cake and eaten etc. its usually time to go home!!!
I'm sure whatever you do its going to be a great party...don't sweat too much they always turn out fun, although I'll admit exhausting for us moms!!!

You have so many great ideas here! My boy has only had 1 birthday so far (#2 is next month!) so I can't be of help in that category. I do recommend Family Fun though for the great party ideas and homemade games/crafts.

You could place a limit on the number of guests (I've heard 1 per age of the child as a good #) and maybe just limit the party to 2 hours. By the time you do a few games/craft, eat, open gifts, the party will be nearly over!

Good luck :>)
