Confirmed Pneumonia

I've been on the phone with Peter from the doctors all morning. Yes my little man does have pneumonia, yes I'm freaked out. The medicine they want to give him contains Amoxocillan,(spelling?) we normally keep the kids off that because Olivia had a bad allergic reaction to it. It was just as easy to find an alternative. Well,, I spoke to the doctor this morning and the alternative does not work as well. What the heck do I do. Give him something that there is a family history of an allergic reaction to or something that may not work. If he gets worse he'll end up in the hospital.
After talking with the doctor he, myself and Peter decided it was worth taking the risk with the better drug. If we do see anything out of the ordinary we can just stop and switch.
I'm so worried about him. My mind is thinking about every worse case scenario possible. When in reality he will most likely take his medicine and be fine. My mind doesn't go that way. It takes the nightmare route.
Please say a prayer for my brave little man, thanks.

Your son is in good hands and is well cared for. You obviously pay attention to your children and are a great caregiver. He will be fine, but it does take a while. My oldest (9) has had pneumonia 6-7 times (bad asthma). The medicine does work. Also praying Emmie stays healthy, and you can get some rest soon.

To be on the safe side, have you checked with your doctor's office on what to do in case of an emergency? Call them? Call EMTs? Head straight for the ER? Good to have that nailed down. . . . . . I think I would do the same thing you decidd and watch carefully. I have a severe allergy and have had to take the alternative. It worked, and I didn't have a reaction. Hope that is a tiny encouragement. Praying for you and all the kids.

Oh no!! I hope he feels better soon!! I haven't had to battle pneumonia with my kids before but I imagine that it is so scary because it can turn so quickly. But you are a great mom and I know you will be watching him like a hawk. And just be thankful that you know about the possible allergic reaction because you will be extra watchful for any issues. Hang in there...maybe you will be done for the year now!!!

OH man, you have your hands full. Your whole family is in our prayers that nobody else gets sick and that Andrew gets feeling better soon. Wow, it's only October and it seems that all our kids are getting sick already.

Praying for your son for a quick recovery! You have to "let go and let God" in this situation. You are doing what you feel is best for you son and taking care of him the best you know how, the rest is for God to handle. Keep us posted.

He will be fine!! I know it is hard not to worry... I am a nervous wreck about Jett and his tonsil surgery next week! But he will be fine, you will watch him closely and he will get to be spoiled for a few days with couch time and cartoons... Keep us posted!
P.S. Don't be afraid of the cough, he NEEDS to cough... not so much he punctures a lung, but don't suppress it completely, that is what keeps the fluid off his lungs, very important...okay, the RT in me will shut up!

Oh you poor thing, you've been going through quite alot yourself. Don't worry...I am sure he is in good hands. I know how scared you must be. Just keep an very close eye on him and report if anything doesn't seem quite right. Pneumonia is scary but you've caught it immediately so there is nothing to worry about, its totally under control and I am sure you have the best of medical care at your hands. Will say a prayer for all the kids and that Emmie stays out of it.

So he as flu and pneumonia? Praying that he doesn't have a reaction to the amoxicillin.

Allergies are a weird bird. I have one daughter allergic to amoxicillin and sulfa drugs and another daughter who can take those drugs just fine but has severe food allergies. The one allergy they share--cashews.

I too go the nightmare route so I sympathize. Prepare for the worst, hope/pray for the best.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
